Privacy Policy

This policy explains what we collect, why we collect it, and the choices you have. Written in plain English, without dark patterns.

Effective date: April 2026 Last updated: April 2026 Applies to: ScanCalorie iOS app & website

1. Introduction

This Privacy Policy describes how we, the team behind ScanCalorie ("we", "us", "our"), handle information when you use the ScanCalorie mobile application and the scancalorie.fit website (together, the "Service"). By using the Service, you agree to the practices described below.

2. Information we collect

We collect only the information we need to run the Service and improve your experience. That includes:

3. Information we do not collect

4. How we use information

5. Third-party services

We use a small number of carefully chosen providers to operate the Service:

These providers may process data on our behalf under their own security and privacy terms. We do not authorize them to use your data for their own advertising.

6. Your rights under GDPR

If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, you have the right to access, correct, export and delete the personal data we hold about you, and to restrict or object to certain processing. You can exercise these rights by emailing support@scancalorie.fit. We will respond within the time frames required by applicable law.

7. Your rights under CCPA

If you are a California resident, the California Consumer Privacy Act gives you the right to know what personal information we collect, request deletion of that information and opt out of its sale. We do not sell personal information. To exercise your CCPA rights, contact support@scancalorie.fit.

8. Data retention

Meal logs and weight entries are stored on your device and, where applicable, in associated cloud backups. If you delete the app, your on-device data is removed by iOS. Analytics data is retained in aggregated form only. You can request deletion of any data we hold about you at any time.

9. Security

We use encryption in transit (HTTPS/TLS) for data sent between the app and our services. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure, but we follow industry practices to reduce risk and limit who on our team can access data.

10. Children's privacy

ScanCalorie is rated for users 13 and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided information to us, please contact support@scancalorie.fit and we will delete it.

11. International transfers

Our providers may process information in countries other than your own. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards — such as the European Commission's standard contractual clauses — to protect data transferred internationally.

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date above and, for material changes, notify you in the app or on this page. Your continued use of the Service after changes become effective constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.

13. Contact us
