Frequently asked questions

How does AI food scanning work?

Tap the scan button and point your camera at your meal. ScanCalorie sends the photo to a computer-vision model that recognises the foods it sees and estimates portion sizes, then returns calories, carbs, protein and fat. You can adjust any item or quantity before saving — the app learns from your corrections to make future suggestions feel more like your real plate.

How do I cancel my subscription?

Subscriptions are billed and managed by Apple through your Apple ID. To cancel:

  1. Open Settings on your iPhone.
  2. Tap your name at the top, then Subscriptions.
  3. Choose ScanCalorie.
  4. Tap Cancel Subscription and confirm.

You'll keep access through the end of the current paid period. If you need help with a refund, contact Apple Support — they process all App Store refunds.

Is my data private?

Yes. ScanCalorie does not ask for your name or email, and we never see your payment details — Apple handles all in-app purchases. Food photos are sent to our AI provider for nutrition estimation only and are not stored permanently on our servers. For full details, see our Privacy Policy.

What iOS version is required?

ScanCalorie requires iOS 16.6 or later and runs on iPhone. To check your version, open Settings › General › About and look at the "iOS Version" line. If you're on an older iOS, you can update under Settings › General › Software Update.

How accurate is the calorie tracking?

ScanCalorie provides estimates — not lab measurements. AI is great at identifying foods and suggesting sensible portion sizes, but plates vary, and so will the numbers. For the best results, treat the first scan as a starting point: review ingredients, tweak quantities, and the app will remember how you tend to eat. Consistency over perfection is what makes tracking useful.

Can I log meals without a photo?

Absolutely. Use the "Describe" option to type or dictate what you ate — for example, "two scrambled eggs, a slice of sourdough and half an avocado" — and ScanCalorie will turn that into a nutrition entry you can edit.

How do I reset my daily goal?

Open the profile tab in the app and tap your goal or calorie target to adjust it. You can switch between maintenance, fat loss and gain presets, or set custom calorie and macro targets at any time.

Does ScanCalorie work offline?

You can view your history, weight log and streaks offline. AI food scanning requires an internet connection because the vision model runs in the cloud to keep the app fast and lightweight on-device.
